A couple at the opera

$20 Tickets

The Susan and Isaac Wakil Foundation Access Program

The Susan and Isaac Wakil Foundation Access Program has been established to give people who would not otherwise have access to opera the opportunity to attend Opera Australia performances at the Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne through the provision of heavily-subsidised tickets.

Tickets will be priced at $20 and will be allocated using a ballot system. If you would like to enter the ballot, complete the form below.

If you are chosen, you will be advised by email of the date and time of the opera for which you can purchase two tickets for $20 each, and how to complete your purchase.

Complete the form below to enter the ballot.

“Susan and I have experienced the joy of opera and have had countless memorable evenings at the Sydney Opera House. We were therefore delighted when Opera Australia approached us to support a new access program which will make it easier for people to experience a night at the opera for the first time.”

Opera first-timers

Opera Australia's Wakil Ballot makes more than six-hundred $20 tickets available to low-income and culture-curious individuals who might not have had the resources to experience it before - as determined by an online ballot. We met and photographed some of the successful 'first-timers' ahead of the March 15 performance of Opera Australia's La bohème, and checked back in to see what they thought of the experience.
