Costume Designer

Alice graduated from the NIDA Design course in 2004 and designs set and costumes for leading Australian theatre companies and film directors.

Alice designed set and costumes for the opera The Navigator by Barrie Kosky, last year’s Sydney Theatre Company production of The Women of Troy, also by Barrie Kosky, Self Esteem directed by Brendan Cowell for Wharf2Loud at the Sydney Theatre Company,  The Nightwatchman directed by Lee Lewis at Griffin Theatre Company, Weather directed by Jennifer Hagan at the Railway Street Theatre Company, The Peach Season and Strangers in Between directed by David Berthold at the Griffin Theatre Company, Patricia Cornelius’s award winning Love, directed by John Sheedy at B Sharp, The Drowned World at Darlinghurst Theatre directed by Lee Lewis, Jumping and All That by Big Shoes Theatre Company at the Old Fitzroy Theatre, A Number directed by Lee Lewis at B Sharp and a Daniel Keene double bill of The Share and The Hour Before My Brother Dies at the Old Fitzroy Theatre.

Alice’s costume only credits include the Sydney Theatre Company production of The War of the Roses, directed by Benedict Andrews, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf directed by Benedict Andrews for Belvoir St Theatre,  Katherine Thomson’s King Tide at Griffin Theatre, The Season Of Sarsaparilla directed by Benedict Andrews at Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir St Theatre productions Parramatta Girls and Capricornia directed by Wesley Enoch, Sydney Theatre Company’s production of The Lost Echo directed by Barrie Kosky, The Eight: Reindeer Monologues through Oxygen Productions and Camp Sugar, Julius Caesar directed by Benedict Andrews, Boy Meets Girl directed by Robyn Nevin, both at Sydney Theatre Company and Half and Half at B Sharp directed by Lee Lewis.

Alice designed the set for The Year of Magical Thinking directed by Cate Blanchett and for The Wonderful World of Dissocia, directed by Marion Potts, both for Sydney Theatre Company.

In addition to theatre, Alice has designed music video clips for the likes of The Mess Hall, End of Fashion and You Am I and works on television commercials with Cherub Pictures. Alice designed costumes for the hour long MTV prod-uced drama pilot called Hammer Bay and production design for the short film Underdog.

Alice’s forthcoming work includes her international opera debut with Barrie Kosky’s Rigoletto at the Komische Opera in Berlin ahead of her Opera Australia debut on Bliss with Neil Armfield in early 2010.
